The Population Library offers a potentially enormous productivity benefit by saving populations of letters to be re-used on future jobs. As you build the library of letters and fonts, the value increases. Here's how it works:
Let's say you have a channel letter set that you're doing for a customer. You select a font and size, type in the letters, and populate with your favorite module. The module path for each letter is uniquely saved to the Population Library. If you want to make any edits to the population, such as how the run is routed, then you can do that and update the Library with the changes.
Next week that customer comes back with the same job, perhaps even at a different size. You type the text in, and when you go to populate, it uses the path from your previous layout, making it fast and consistent. If the difference in size is significant, then perhaps you will need a single run version and a double run version, and that is supported.
Each letter/font combination and the number of runs is saved to the library. Note that this does not work with imported text; it has to be text entered with our text Entry Tool using one of the LED Wizard, Sign Wizard, or True Type fonts.
Over time, you'll build up your Population Library to include your favorite fonts and characters, so that populating is very fast and consistent.
See Add to Population Library for the two ways to add to the library.
